Rayson UraForce SB72

Rayson UraForce SB72 is a two-component, solvent-based polyurethane floor finish that holds its colour and high gloss under strong UV while resisting abrasion and a broad range of chemicals.

Best for

Best for exterior industrial floors and any coated floor where colour and gloss must survive sunlight.

Overview

UraForce SB72 pairs a pigmented polyester polyol base with an aliphatic polyisocyanate hardener — the chemistry that keeps polyurethane finishes bright outdoors. Where epoxies chalk and yellow, SB72 retains colour and high gloss under strong ultraviolet exposure.

The finish is a genuine performer as well as a good-looking one: abrasion loss of 90 mg in standard CS-17 Taber testing, and documented resistance to spillages including citric, tartaric, acetic, lactic and phosphoric acids, nitric acid 25%, hydrochloric acid 10%, sulphuric acid 30%, sodium hydroxide 30%, petrol, sugar solution and formaldehyde 38%. The result is a hygienic, easy-to-clean floor that protects and dustproofs the concrete beneath.

It is applied by fine lamb wool roller over a cured primer coat in two thin finish coats. As a solvent-based product it needs ventilation during application — plan occupied-area work accordingly, or look at the water-based UraForce WB range.

Recommended uses

  • Exterior industrial floors
  • Floors requiring long-term colour and gloss retention
  • Chemically exposed floors needing an easy-to-clean coloured finish

Suitable substrates

  • Primed concrete (minimum 28 days cure, moisture content below 4%, laitance-free)
  • The primer coat must be fully cured and must seal the concrete efficiently before finishing

Key benefits

  • Retains colour and high gloss under strong UV
  • Excellent abrasion resistance (90 mg, CS-17 Taber)
  • Documented resistance to a wide schedule of acids, alkalis and fuels
  • Hygienic, easy-to-clean, dustproofing finish

System position: Finish

A finish is the top coat. It provides the final appearance, cleanability and resistance to traffic, chemicals or UV.

Application method

  • Fine smooth lamb wool roller

Technical information

The figures below are a guide for planning. Site conditions and workmanship affect results — confirm the details for your project with our technical team.

Coverage Material consumption 0.10 L/m² per coat
Mixing Mix ratio 3:1 (A:B) by weight; add all of Part B to the Part A container and mix with an electric mixer until homogeneous; do not dilute with thinner; pot life 8 hours at 25 °C
Drying & curing Foot traffic 8 h at 25 °C; vehicular traffic 48 h; full chemical resistance 7 days. Recoat window 8–48 hours at 25 °C
Pack sizes Part A 4.5 kg can + Part B 1 kg can

Limitations

  • Do not dilute with thinner
  • In cold weather, allow a longer cure before applying the second coat
  • Solvent-based — provide adequate ventilation; not for occupied areas without ventilation control
  • Requires a fully cured, efficiently sealing primer coat — surface defects telegraph through thin finishes

Not suitable for

  • Occupied or unventilated areas during application — solvent-based
  • Unprimed or poorly sealed concrete
  • Thick-build or self-levelling duties — this is a thin-film finish
  • Immersion service or chemical exposures outside the tested schedule without technical confirmation

Recommended systems

UV-stable coloured floor system

  1. Prime prepared concrete with Rayson PrimeBond S30 and allow to cure completely
  2. Apply 2 coats of Rayson UraForce SB72, the second within the recoat window

Frequently asked questions

Will UraForce SB72 yellow outdoors?

No — the aliphatic polyurethane chemistry is specifically chosen for colour and gloss retention under strong UV. That is its core advantage over epoxy finishes.

Which chemicals has it been tested against?

The source resistance schedule covers citric, tartaric, acetic, lactic and phosphoric acids, nitric acid 25%, hydrochloric acid 10%, sulphuric acid 30%, sodium hydroxide 30%, petrol, sugar solution and formaldehyde 38%. For any exposure outside that schedule, or unusual concentration and temperature, confirm with our technical team.

How long between the two coats?

Apply the second coat within roughly 8–48 hours at 25 °C; cold weather stretches the required cure before recoating.

When can vehicles drive on it?

Indicatively 48 hours at 25 °C, with full chemical resistance developing over 7 days. Programme heavy or chemical service accordingly.

Can it be applied without a primer?

No. Efficient sealing of the concrete by a cured primer coat is essential — an unsealed slab causes bubbles and defects in the thin finish film.

Is it suitable for occupied buildings?

Only with proper ventilation — it is solvent-based. For odour-sensitive interiors choose the water-based UraForce WB52, WB58 or WB60.
